Sitting high above the Connecticut River, the Gillette Castle was originally a private residence designed by William Gillette, an American Actor who is most famous for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes on stage. There will be a 15 min. introductory talk about the history of the Castle before we start our self guided tour of the home. LUNCH will be at Oliver’s Historic Tavern (meal choices). Enjoy the comfort of restored vintage rail cars and the glory days of steam on the Essex Steam Train and then board the Becky Thatcher, Enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the Connecticut River Valley from the multi-deck riverboat. What a fun day for all! |
