Matterhorn Gardens and Lyndhurst
Tuesday, June 24
$105 per person
Our first stop will be at Matterhorn Gardens, we will
have a guided tour of the beautiful gardens and free time in
their wonderful gift shop. Next we go to the “Old ’76 House” for
a fabulous LUNCH. This tavern, built in 1668, has a history
dating back to the Revolutionary War.
The Old ’76 House established itself as a safe ground for
Americans when the air was rife with revolution and the tavern
itself served as the “prison” of the Revolution’s most notorious
spy, Major John Andre. After lunch we depart for Lyndhurst, a
national trust 1838 Gothic Revival Mansion overlooking the
Hudson River. This home was once owned by Jay Gould, a railroad
magnate. It is fully furnished with 19th and 20th century
antiques and art work. |
