Today we will travel to the Eastern States Penitentiary where we will take a guided tour of this once vital prison. Opened in 1829 as part of a movement to change the behavior of inmates through “confinement in solitary with labor”, the Eastern States Penitentiary quickly became one of the most copied buildings with over 300 prisons worldwide copying the wagon wheel style floor plan. One of the most noted criminals to be incarcerated at the prison in 1929 for an 8 month stay was Al Capone. You will get to see his cell plus many other interesting areas of the prison. A delicious Father’s Day LUNCH is included at London Grill one of Philly’s great eating establishments. This is a Father’s Day tour that won’t soon be forgotten!
